The Incomplete Story of Your Period

For generations, the conversation around menstruation has been incomplete. Most of us grew up being told it was simply a part of the reproductive process, a monthly event to "push through" so you could eventually have babies.
The reality is that many of us menstruate for years without ever realizing there is more to the story. We don't even think to look for an explanation because we were never told one existed. We were simply taught to endure our periods. But without a user manual for our own menstruating bodies, how are we supposed to know what is actually normal and what isn’t?
"It's just part of having a period."
Period challenges and issues are a near-universal experience, yet they can be incredibly isolating and frustrating to navigate. These challenges get in the way of life, stopping you from doing what you love and being able to do what you need. Along with the physical challenges comes the experience of looking for support and not finding much direction or help.
I hear from so many menstruators who have advocated for themselves, only to be told their suffering is "just part of having a period." Or, they are handed a hormonal contraceptive to help regulate their cycle but feel worse because of it. It’s incredibly frustrating to search for support only to be met with silence, forced to grit your teeth and bear the pain of your menstrual challenges simply because the tools for a better way haven't been taught or shared.
Having a uterus does NOT equal period issues
Period challenges are not a side effect of having a uterus.
Menstrual pain is not normal.
A heavy flow is not something that should just be dealt with through constant preparation.
Mood swings are not just "something that comes with a period," and missing periods are not something to just wait around for.
These struggles are not your destiny. They are the result of a lack of education, a lack of scientific understanding, and a lack of protocols to support menstruating bodies.
The manual
Menstruation is so much more than a reproductive process. When you finally receive the whole story of your cycle, the manual for your menstruating body, it brings the clarity you need to lessen your menstrual challenges. It gives you the tools to support yourself and the awareness and direction to find the extra support you’ve been looking for.
Starting to learn that your symptoms are actually clues means you finally have information you can act on. By learning to read the clues of the body, you can better support your natural processes and hormones. Stabilizing your hormones through your bodily data will be the catalyst for long-term relief. This is how you show up for the things you love without the disruption of the menstrual cycle. Having a healthy menstrual cycle not only supports the reproductive process but also your overall health
